  • No Credit Check Bank Accounts

If you’ve had issues with borrowing money as a business before, you may need a business account that will allow you to apply without a credit check.

If you are thinking of opening a new business account, the one thing that might be a stumbling block is if you have a bad credit score. This can limit your access to borrowing in the first instance, but can also decrease the likelihood of you being accepted for a business account, unless you can find a business account with no credit check.

Whilst there are plenty of ways to improve your credit score, if you can’t wait for this to happen you might want to consider a bad credit business account with no credit check instead, then think about switching your account once your credit score has improved.

What is a no credit check business account?

A no credit check business account is just like a bad credit current account in that you have limited features compared to a standard business bank account and subsequently you have less chance of incurring any more debt.

The benefit for business customers is that you are less likely to be credit checked in the process of applying, which means you’re more likely to be accepted. There is usually no monthly fee either, so it should help with keeping additional payments to a minimum.

However, the lack of features mean you won’t have access to an overdraft in case you go overdrawn, and if you don’t keep on top of your finances you can easily pick up more penalties along the way.

Why have I got a bad credit score?

There can be several reasons for you having a bad credit score, but usually it’s from missing payments on a credit card or loan, meaning that you’re considering less trustworthy as a borrower.

The following factors could also contribute to you having a bad credit score:

    • Gone overdrawn – if you spend too much in your current account and end up in minus figures, chances are your bank will charge you fees for being in an unarranged overdraft. Continuing without being above zero in your account, or failing to arrange a formal overdraft will decrease your credit score
    • Spent over your credit limit – equally, if you have a credit card and spend over your credit limit, chances are you will be hit with fees until you pay off the debt. Failure to make further repayments can have a negative impact on your score
    • Received a County Court Judgement (CCJ) – if you end up failing to repay borrowed funds, a bank can hit you with a CCJ, which can limit your access to financial products in the future, including a business account
    • Declared Bankruptcy – if you have had to declare bankruptcy at some point in your financial past, this may affect your ability to borrow money in the future, and stop you from being accepted for current accounts and business accounts

Should I get a no credit check business account?

If you urgently need to get a business account to organise your finances, then a no credit check business account might be the best option for you. It might have limited features compared to a standard business account, but at the very least you can have a secure place to keep your company money.

Of course, if you plan on improving your credit score, you can then think about switching to a standard business account in the future.

Just keep checking your credit score and try to take action in maintaining your credit score by keeping up with repayments on borrowed funds and stay within your credit limit for your various accounts. You can also find out what to do if you have been refused credit here.
